Red Wing Shoes

Secret Society is proud to be stocking products from one of the true original american work wear brands, shoes from the classic work boot maker Red Wing. Since 1905, Red Wing have been producing shoes of the highest quality, from its factory in Red Wing, Minnesota. The classic style 877 (top picture) was introduced in the collection in 1950, and as the boot was intended as a hunting boot, it got its color (the distinct "Red Wing" red) and nick name from the classic upland bird dog; The Irish Setter.

As Red Wing describes it "All work and no play tend to make dull boys. So Red Wing leveraged its work boot heritage to create a boot for play. In this case, play was upland game hunting. Designed for comfortably walking the prairie grasses and fields, its durability would last season after season. For over 50 years the 877 has been a legend in the field."

We are stocking the classic 877 and style 2975 (11" Engineer). And since these shoes works just as well for the girlfriend, as it does for the boyfriend, we have got both men's and women's sizes.

While we are first at it, LA Times have written a nice article on the current work wear trend (as seen in Number (N)ine's current collection - My Own Private Portland). Head over to LA Times, and catch up on those long time achievers.

UNDER COVER LAB

The following text and image are from Klein Dytham architecture for their design of the Under Cover Lab in Tokyo, Japa
n.

Under Cover Lab is a design studio for one of the Japan´s leading fashion designer, Jun Takahasi of Under Cover. The building itself is very undercover, not only tucked away in the back streets of Harajuku in Tokyo, but the site is also very deceiving. A narrow but long driveway leads to a 12m x 12m site at the rear.

Arne & Carlos is back. Let's call it a re-positioning, and it seems to be a successful one. When we met the two of them at Rendez-Vous in Paris earlier this year, their sales stand had been invaded by a bunch of the top-notch stores in the world. The buyers from the best Japanses stores we're stunned by their collection, and when the buyers from Dover Street Market ask to sit down, I guess you have done something the proper way.

As the cat is out of the bag, we can reveleave that Rei Kawakubo of Comme Des Garcons fell in love with the collection, and have commissioned an exclusive collection (Arne & Carlos for Comme Des Garcons), which will be on sale in all Comme Des Garcons boutiques by the end of October. Impressive. Look out for a write up on Arne & Carlos in the coming issue of Monocle.

We have got the regular collection in stock, and that means the better part of the products pictured above.

Drop by to get your hands on these great products, that reminds us all of our childhood.

Enjoy the weekend,

Current Elliott

"For years Emily Current and Meritt Elliott - a.k.a. the styling team MAUDE - have been shopping denim. Unable to find what they wanted to wear for themselves, they started buying vintage jeans and tailoring them to a more modern fit. They started wearing these customized gems to fittings and shoots, which soon were spotted and coveted by their celebrity clientele. They have introduced customized vintage denim to everyone from Mandy Moore and Nicole Richie to Emma Roberts to name a few. Not only were these jeans a perfect timeless fashion piece, but have each person that wore them a sense of individuality - a nice alternative to a sea of dressy denim, offering an authenticity to girls who don't have time for sourcing flea markets and vintage stores. MAUDE was thrilled at the opportunity to launch their denim dream with the line CURRENT / ELLIOTT, aptly named to honor their own design sensibility. They recreated these special one of a kind pieces with comfortable stretch Japanese denim, produced in their hometown of Los Angeles. Every style offered has a historical reference, an original vintage sample, and a year of origin. From the hip skinny slouch of "the 1968", the elephant bell of "the 1971" to the traditional shape of "the 1957", each individual style pays homage to the importance denim has played throughout American history. Other interesting elements of note are the side-seamless leg of U.S. navy inspired "the 1977", the wide elastic waist of "the 1959" athletic short, the worn and grinded chambray of "the 1965" artits smock dress and the square pockets of "the 1955" shrunken jacket. Each wash from loved to super loved is truly such and feels as though it has had a century's worth of wear. CURRENT/ ELLIOTT is unique and timelessly appealing. As with vintage, it promises to love and be loved for years to come and transcend denim trends with its timeless aesthetic." currentelliott.com

Current Elliott is the denim brand of the moment. Secret Society is among the first stores that stock the brand world wide, along with amongst others, Ron Herman in LA. The LA stores are having trouble keeping the denim in stock, and Vogue described it as "...the most refreshing denim line to come out of LA's jeans scene in a long, long time", in it's July issue (see below for the Vogue article).

For the moment, we stock The Elephant Bell (below) and The Skinny (above). We will receive a new shipment in November, with The Skinny in black.

Drop by to check out Current / Elliott at Secret Society.

Visvim : Fall // Winter 2008

We have received the first shipment of Visvim for the new season, and it's no other shoe than the amazing FBT Shaman - Folk. This is close to Visvim's greatest shoe ever, and could it be the best moccasin ever made?

Read through the interview with Hiroki Nakamura from Honeyee.com, if you want an brief introduction to the world of Visvim.

In addition to the FBT Shaman - Folk, we have received the original FBT from G-Line, (below) in yellow, red and blue, as well as the G Kiefer Hi Nez Perce (bottom).

In addition to the shoes, we have for the first time received clothes from Visvim, in the shape of the G. Record Jacket (blue), and the G. Saga Chino (red and yellow). The Visvim clothing line is a great addition to the Visvim range, and like the shoes, the clothing line is of premium quality and fitting.

Secret Society is proud to present Natalia Brilli and here leather accessories line:

"Born in Liege, Belgium, Natalia Brilli studied at the prestigious Cambre school in Brussels. Straddling the worlds of theatre and fashion, she designed sets and costumes whilst simultaneously collaborating with established fashion designers until, after joining Paris' IFM in 2003, she decided to devote all her energy to her life's passion: fashion accessories.

In 2004 she joined Rochas where she still works to this date. That same year she launched her own label, which was snapped up by Maria Luisa, Browns and Barneys. These days she is stocked in over 30 countries worldwide.

Appropriating the emblematic codes of classic jewellery, Natalia's pieces have an ethereal presence, monochromatic yet weightless, their essence freed from unnecessary embellishment. Her inspiration follows the natural rhythm of the seasons without ever forsaking her signature "pearls", and her colour range, limited in the beginning to black, green and purple, now includes pastel tones with natural or metallic finishes."

Look at for the fall delivery of Natalia Brilli at Secret Society, within the next few weeks.

Enjoy the weekend!
